Overview

Celebrated for its inspired entertainment program and an open-door policy to the weird and wonderful, Ponsonby watering hole Golden Dawn is set to undergo a makeover to resemble a Wyoming log cabin in post-Civil War America, naturally.

The transformation, presented over the apt timeframe of eight days (January 19 - 27), will honour the arrival of mega-director Quentin Tarantino to our shores as he celebrates the New Zealand release of his latest film The Hateful Eight. The slow-burning thriller is the filmmaker's eighth full length offering, and in true Tarantino style is phenomenally violent.

As well as embracing the film's predominant setting, Golden Dawn will be serving a limited edition ‘The Hateful Eight’ beer, a reimagined version of Hallertau Brewery's Red Ale. Hallertau brewer and owner Stephen Plowman describes the blood red ale as, “Full, rich and bitter in character with a long malt finish.”

‘The Hateful Eight' beer will be available at Golden Dawn for the duration of the film’s stretch in cinemas. See The Hateful Eight on the big screen from January 21.
