Because nothing screams great heights and far reaching views more than dairy, the city's foremost tourist attraction has partnered with local creamery Kapiti to serve up an extensive range of fancy ice creams and cheeses.

The venture comes as part of the refurbished Sky Café which sits at 182-metres high within the Sky Tower. The main attraction of the face-lift, in addition to the view, is a ‘cold stone’ ice cream bar that gives customers the chance to dream up their own unique flavour combinations. The process begins by choosing your preferred Kapiti ice cream flavour, before a curated selection of treats are mixed in over a cooled stone slab right before your eyes.

Cheese is also a major player, with the menu bringing together everything from Kapiti cheeseboards to enhanced grilled cheese sandwiches and baked cheese dishes (take Kapiti Kahikatea Camembert, truffle oil and mushroom with grissini for example). The café will also serve spruced up versions of café staples.

The new look Sky Café officially opens from Wednesday 9 December.
