Overview
For their next trick, the folks at SkyCity will do the unexpected and erect a garden bar at the base of the pointy concrete monolith. 86 on Fed will pop up beneath the SkyTower on Monday 10 April, running for three weeks with cocktails, live entertainment and rotating menus.
A team of in-house designers has been charged with transforming the usually very bare concrete area into an urban oasis. While the whole thing won't be unveiled until Monday, it's said the pop-up will feature loads of greenery and a living wall.
Food will be a major part of the pop-up. To kick off the opening Peter Gordon's Bellota will serve up Spanish cuisine like a chorizo sandwich, croquetas, potato bravas and goats cheese balls. America-style burger joint Andy's will follow, offering lamb ribs and a cheeseburger. Closing out the pop-up will be Sean Connolly's Gusto at the Grand. The menu will feature Italian classics like spaghetti puttanesca and an antipasto plate of cured meats, grissini and pickles. Wash all that down with a selection of classic cocktails and craft beers.
Live entertainment will complete the experience, kicking off every day from 4pm.
86 on Fed runs from April 10-30, Monday to Friday: 4pm – 10pm and Saturday and Sunday: 11am – 10pm.
