A messy addition to the creole inspired menu.

Overview

Britomart's southern American compeer Orleans has introduced a new casual dining experience to their already popular menu of creole-inspired dishes. Taking place on Sundays and Mondays from 4pm onwards, the 'Crab Shack' concept is based on the seaside crab shacks found along the New Orleans lowcountry.

The dining experience is an adventure in itself and would be an adventurous option for a first date - expect to grease up the crab utensils and get messy. Though, you needn't worry about ruining your dinner attire, they've thought of everything and have ample crab adorned bibs and napkins on hand to deal with the remains. There was even mention of introducing moist towels to top it off.

Features of the new menu include Cloudy Bay Clams, served with local pilsner, butter and bread to soak up the remaining sauce; a hot lobster roll served on brioche with butter, mayo and chives, Orleans slaw with spiced pepitas and peanuts, topped off with some curly fries. All that said, the main event, and the culprit for the aforementioned messiness, is without a doubt the Alaskan King Crab. The giant legs come prepared in a traditional southern 'seafood boil' style, accompanied by pepper butter sauce, sweet corn and potato. Once you figure out the technique, you'll be away laughing.

Orleans are now taking bookings for their first sittings. Make your booking by calling (09) 309 5854.
