Peter Gordon is Curating the Food Lineup For Auckland Art Fair
After a day perusing still life watercolour fruit, you’re going to need some sustenance.
New Zealand's single largest art exhibition, Auckland Art Fair, returns to Queen's Wharf this May (25 – 29) with artisans from New Zealand, Australia and the wider Pacific Rim exhibiting their wares. After a day spent perusing the varied and fascinating mediums - sculpture, painting, drawing, multimedia and still life watercolour fruit - you're going to need some sustenance.
Accordingly, the refreshment side of this year's fair will be a work of art in itself. Celebrated chef Peter Gordon has been roped in to show off his craftsmanship via a selection of four pop-up eateries.
Sandwiched between the galleries on the ground floor of The Cloud will be a Spanish tapas bar based on Gordon's SkyCity offering, Bellota; known for its wide variety of olives, cheese, charcuterie and churros. Located on the upper mezzanine with views over the Waitemata Harbour will be Savour. The main restaurant of the fair will play on Gordon's enthusiasm for fusion style cuisine.
A Coromandel-meets-Federal St-inspired oyster shack and bar will serve the ultimate art commentating fare of oysters, smoked salmon, champagne and sav, while those looking for something more relaxed will have the option of dropping by Café @ Auckland Art Fair (styled as C'AAF). The lunch bar will serve seasonal salads and light meals described as "shabby-chic".
