As the go-to for beautifully crafted cakes in Auckland, it was only a matter of time before The Caker took off in an upward trajectory. After five years of business growth, Jordan Rondel and company have moved into a sizeable new space offering more than the usual supply of sweets.

Neither shop nor hospitality space, Salon de Cake is modelled on the French salons of yore (also meaning 'living room') where people collaborated on points of high culture. The space is led by The Caker's signature pantone pink and takes a page from the delicate and clean decor of Sketch London and Odette in Singapore.

Double the size of the former headquarters next door, Salon de Cake is home to The Caker's engine room, and will also serve as a space for made-to-order cake pick-ups, wedding consultations, and a retail store for books and cake mixes. From Monday to Saturday mini cakes will be available for people who want to grab a takeaway treat and a selection of whole cakes will be available for those eleventh hour cake needs.

In the not to distant future the whole space will be utilised to host baking and decorating classes. It is also available for hire for private parties and special events.

Find Salon de Cake at 446 Karangahape Road. For more information, visit www.thecaker.co.nz.
