Overview

It's a ghastly moment when your pure-bred Tibetan Mastiff is forced to slurp out of a saliva-stained mutt trough. Your loveable furry companion deserves more. The good news for local pooch owners is that two establishments in Auckland are attempting to change the norm by inviting dogs of all sizes and backgrounds to indulge in a specially curated canine menu.

The initiative is a collaboration between dog food company K9 Natural and beachside cafes Kohi Beach and Takapuna Beach Café - part of hospitality org Hipgroup. From Saturday 30 July, and for the four weekends following, both locations will allow four legged friends to dine for free via the appropriately titled Bone Appetit menu. As well as being a bit of a laugh, K9 Natural CEO Neil Hinton hopes the initiative will get dog owners thinking about the type and quality of food they feed their pets.

The Bone Appetit menu will include a selection of K9 products, all using free range meat, cage free eggs.
