It's no secret that Giapo is hell-bent on reinventing the humble ice cream. The Auckland ice creamery has already changed the way we interact with cold treats thanks to hot cross bun-impaled waffle cones and an entire menu of unlikely pairings inspired by comfort foods from around the world.

You can now learn the secrets of innovative ice cream power couple Gianpaolo and Annarosa Grazioli as they launch a behind-the-scenes Giapo experience. Putting the research and development space on Gore Street to good use, the Giapo team has launched the experience so you can see firsthand what happens in the kitchen.

During the one-hour experience you'll hear the story of Giapo and how the company intends to change the way people interact with ice cream. Learn about the equipment used, see sketches of past and future creations, and see how the team makes everything from selfie cones to the world-famous Colossal Squid and a whopping 60-centimetre-tall creation. And, yes, you will be able to sample plenty of ice cream from the menu throughout the experience.

Giapo says the kitchen experience is suitable for anyone with a passion for innovation and wants to find out more about how the ice creamery operates. It is open to all ages with group limits of up to 25 people.

Giapo's behind-the-scenes experience costs $35 per person and can be booked across several dates in November. For more information, visit giapo.com.
