New Zealanders, if you like your burgers cruelty-free, then you've probably been keen to introduce your tastebuds to Impossible Foods. One of the big names in plant-based meat, the brand has built up quite the following in the US — and, from today, Thursday, November 4, it's finally available here in Aotearoa.

Known for making not just meat alternatives but also dairy substitutes out of plants, Impossible has launched in New Zealand with a couple of huge collaborations: it's now on the menu at all six locations of local chain Burger Burger across Auckland, Mount Maunganui and Christchurch, and the three Auckland locations of Middle-Eastern takeaway hotspot Fatima's.

Burger fiends can dig into Burger Burger's new 'Impossible Beef & Cheese' burger for the fully authentic experience, or just pay an extra $2 to sub the plant-based patty onto any existing burger on the menu.

For those keen on a kebab, Auckland-based chain Fatima's will be offering an 'Impossible Beef Chawarma' and an 'Impossible Beef Kofte Mezze', as well as the option to add it to any of the popular Persian or Fattoush salads on the menu.

Lockdown favourite Cantine, the Karangahape Road burger pop-up operating out of Bar Celeste, will also be adding an 'Impossible Smashburger' to its limited menu lineup, and across the ditch on Waiheke, iconic Oneroa restaurant Vino Vino will be serving plant-based alternatives of their beef burger, pita pocket and lasagne.

Now that Impossible's meat-less 'beef' is popping up on menus around the country, you can expect more places to join the list. And if you're wondering what makes the brand's plant-based options stand out, it was named the best plant-based burger by The New York Times.

Burger Burger and Fatima's Impossible menu is available in stores from Thursday, November 4. For further details about Impossible, head to the brand's website.
