Edible 24-carat gold foil, cheese tea and candy floss-wrapped soft serve — Shanghai-born ice cream chain Nobibi has arrived in Auckland.

The outlandish ice cream chain prides itself on sourcing quality organic ingredients and presenting the newest innovations in ice cream. Unique menu additions include the aforementioned soft served topped with 24-carat gold foil in a black waffle cone and teas which use leaves imported from the high mountains of Taiwan. Don't expect to find your average scoop of hokey pokey here.

The brand's first store in Auckland — found at 128 Broadway, Newmarket — has been inspired by the Japanese culture of cuteness: kawaii. Inside, the theme has been realised with pale pink hues, oversized stuffed animals, bubble chairs and cloud lights hanging from the ceiling.

The Fluffy Cloud is the number one seller. The visually impressive treat combines vanilla yogurt soft serve wrapped in a puffy blanket of white candy floss and then topped with everything from marshmallows to sprinkles and Fruit Loops. The Spaghetti Mix is another delicious invention with its thin soft serve strands that mimic spaghetti, while the Mickey Oreo comes with two Oreo ears dipped into a swirl of salted frozen yogurt — this one comes served in a cube cup.

Find Nobibi at 128 Broadway, Newmarket.
