Overview

Put down that $10 bottle of cleanskin and box of cooking vino; the wine shopping experience as you know it is about to take an exciting turn, with an upmarket wine destination opening its doors in Newmarket.

The Wine Cave is a shiny new retail space in Newmarket, established by a small team of local entrepreneurs as an alternative to the often impersonal wine shopping experience and to showcase wine from celebrated producers and lesser-known boutiques.

Upon entering the lavish space, visitors will be welcomed in the reception area. From there, they'll be led into the dedicated showroom and tasting area or escorted to the onsite wine vault, which is only accessible by swipe card.

The main showroom is home to 435 wines, 60 spirits and a small selection of craft beers. The selection will change regularly with wines sourced in small quantities, primarily from New Zealand boutique vineyards. Around the timber shelving you can expect to find back vintages, special releases and large format bottles.

The VIP wine vault is surrounded by more than 900 bottles of the really, really good stuff, 60 spirits and fine glassware. Guests can get comfortable in lounge chairs while enjoying the selection of fine wine on offer. VIP Wine Cave members can also use the area to host guests, drink wine and enjoy the private butler service.

The Wine Cave hopes to become the go-to destination for a high-end wine experience. Every month, there will be 16 new wines selected by sommelier team for customers to taste. Personal tasting sessions can also be booked during and outside of opening hours.

The Wine Cave will open its doors on Wednesday 18 October on 104 Carlton Gore Road, Newmarket. Hours: Monday – Saturday, 9am to 6pm. For more information visit The Wine Cave online.
