The beloved Spanish bar and eatery caused a stir during a brief Auckland pop-up back in 2016 — and now it's coming here for good.

Overview

In great news for the city's hospitality scene, an iconic Australian hotspot is about to open the doors to its first permanent New Zealand location — and you'll find it right here in Auckland's CBD.

MoVida was one of the first eateries to ignite a passion for share plates and tapas when it opened in Melbourne's graffiti-ridden Hosier Lane back in 2003. The inner-city hideaway became a beacon of Spanish goodness for locals before becoming somewhat of a tapas empire, spinning off a further three establishments in Melbourne and a series of airport bars.

It also caused a stir for Kiwis when it made a brief appearance on our shores in 2016, when legendary chef and owner Frank Camorra brought his inventive menu over for a four-week pop-up housed in Josh Emmett's City Terrace, the casual younger sibling of Ostro (RIP).

Now Aucklanders will get to experience the magic all over again — this time in a permanent brick-and-mortar location coming to Britomart. A new addition to the stacked Savor Group portfolio (Amano, Azabu, Non Solo Pizza) MoVida Auckland will open in the iconic Seafarer's Building next month, taking over the spot that previously housed Ostro — and boasting the same stunning harbour views and vibey open plan atmosphere.

More details are still to be announced, but Savor Group promises that iconic MoVida dishes Australians know and love will be on the menu, including anchovy with smoked tomato sorbet and house-baked sourdough, alongside new additions and ever-changing specials of local fare.

MoVida Auckland will open next month in level two of Britomart's Seafarer's building, found at 52 Tyler Street. More details are yet to be announced, but keep up with developments over on the official Instagram page.
