The Headline Eatery Has Been Announced for Newmarket's New Rooftop Dining Precinct

Newmarket's beloved Two Double Seven mall is currently undergoing a massive $790 million redevelopment. The pricey transformation is the work of Scentre Group, the Australasian arm of Westfield, who are looking to create "a world-class retail and lifestyle destination" in the inner-city suburb.

It has now been revealed that Asian fusion restaurant White + Wong's will anchor the rooftop dining and entertainment precinct. Set to open alongside the Westfield Newmarket development later this year, Rooftop on Broadway will include a new cinema complex and views of the city, year-round dining options. The White + Wong's space will feature a sit-down restaurant for over 450 customers and the brand's Sardine cocktail bar.

Created by Good Group Hospitality, White + Wong's boasts a marriage of flavours from Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand — signature dishes include shaking beef and Wagyu beef dumplings, lamb shoulder massaman curry, hot and sour prawn soup, and kingfish sashimi. There are currently two W+W locations in New Zealand, including Auckland's Viaduct Harbour and in Queenstown. Further retailers for the dining precinct will be announced in the coming months.

The Westfield Newmarket site will nearly triple in size from just over 30,000sqm to a gross lettable area of 88,150sqm, including 277's outdoor parking lot and the site of the old Farmers store at 309 Broadway. Australian department store David Jones will headline the five-floor retail experience, which will also include a Countdown supermarket, a new format Farmers and over 230 specialist stores. Further new shopping services will include valet parking, a styling suite and hands-free shopping.
