After weeks of panic buying and current social distancing requirements, a visit to the supermarket under the COVID-19 lockdown isn't the most appealing task. Set to take some pressure off our essential workers and let the community fill their pantries from the comfort of home is a new online supermarket from Service Foods.

For over 35 years the Kiwi company has provided wholesale produce to our restaurants, hotels and caterers. Its new initiative, Service Foods Home, is set to deliver restaurant-quality ingredients at wholesale prices.

The online supermarket can be used to purchase everything from essentials to gourmet ingredients — from baker's flour to Norwegian salmon fillets and one-kilogram pails of butter chicken paste. But before you get too excited — there isn't a roll of toilet paper in sight.

Service Foods is a registered essential business. It will primarily deliver online orders direct to door using its own fleet of trucks and will rely on local courier services to help minimise demand. The delivery times are currently set within 48 hours of ordering.

Service Foods Home will initially launch in Auckland and will rollout nationwide in the coming month.
