Takapuna's Mortar & Pestle is an eatery where you can indulge in whole-baked camembert, nacho omelettes and mac 'n' cheese-stuffed croissants. Now, the inventive Hurstmere Road restaurant has livened up its dessert menu by welcoming Lewis Road Creamery into the space.

It's been six years since Lewis Road instigated The Great Artisanal Milk Shortage 0f 2014 and lactose lovers across the country went absolutely bonkers for the brand's irresistible bottles of choccy milk. Since then, the boutique dairy company has released everything from gorge-worthy butters and plump sourdough loaves to its very own chocolate cream liqueur.

Lewis Road's Super Premium ice cream range has previously only been available at select Auckland outlets and by the tub in supermarket refrigerators. The new scoop shop inside Mortar & Pestle will allow ice cream lovers to tick off the entire ultra creamy lineup, including flavours: three vanillas, burnt butter and caramel, double mint and chocolate chip, chocolate truffle with ganache, and dark chocolate with raspberry.

A single scoop in a cup or waffle cone will set you back $8, with double and triple scoops priced at $12 and $15 respectively. To match, the store also serves up barista coffee using the brand's Jersey milk. Our recommendation: order a scoop and drown it with espresso for your own DIY affogato by the beach.

Find the Lewis Road Creamery scoop shop inside Mortar & Pestle at 21 Hurstmere Road, Takapuna. It's open 8am to 4pm, Sunday to Tuesday and 8am to 10pm, Wednesday to Saturday.
