Overview
Eden Terrace is steadily becoming the craft beer capital of Auckland. Following the opening of underground bar The Beer Jerk Bunker and launch of the Auckland Beer Mile — a boozy walking tour of seven local venues — earlier in the year, the suburb now welcomes a specialist off-licence store for craft lovers.
Opened by Luke White and Brent Grove of beer subscription service Beer Jerk and the aforementioned subterranean bar, The Fridge & Flagon takes over the company's warehouse space and former home of Hopscotch.
The store showcases over 200 beers from New Zealand and around the world in bottles, cans and kegs — either bring your own flagon or pick one up on site.
Beer Jerk has access to cold-shipped international drops alongside a range of new releases and favourites from independent local brewers — meaning visitors can pick up anything from a raspberry sour from Paraparaumu, a coffee milk stout from Sydney or a collaborative brown ale inspired by sticky date pudding. Curious beer fans can try something completely different and stick their arm in the lucky dip fridge which is filled with mystery beers.
Find The Fridge & Flagon at 2 Shaddock St, Eden Terrace. It's open Monday to Wednesday from 12–5pm and Thursday to Saturday from 12–7pm.
