Overview

Ex-Gemmayze Street chef Krista On Hing has turned a lockdown hobby into new online business Bunanza, delivering freshly made cinnamon buns with a selection of delicious toppings direct to your door.

After picking up the "therapeutic" hobby of baking and eating cinnamon buns during Auckland's lengthy lockdown, On Hing says she needed to get the buns out of the house — more for self-preservation than anything else. Now lucky Aucklanders can order a mixed-pack of freshly-baked buns for weekend delivery, with our full permission to pretend you baked them yourself.

Each mixed pack of cinnamon buns comes with a selection of different, delicious toppings to choose from: "zesty and creamy" orange cream cheese, "nutty and salty" browned butter with salted almond, and of course, a classic vanilla buttercream for the purists. They're the perfect match to a piping-hot cuppa of your choice.

The word is getting out quickly, the reviews are all glowing and On Hing says they're "scared but excited" by the steeply rising demand. Make an order on the website to have your buns delivered hot and fresh — currently delivery is only between 10am and 2pm, Friday and Sunday, but new delivery days are promised to be launching soon. A single mixed pack is $35, but anything spent over $36 means free delivery, so you may as well grab two while you're at it.
