Overview

Located in the prime café scene of Birkenhead, we’ve found the latest meeting ground to ‘Fika’ (the Swedish meaning for ‘have coffee’). Correct compadre, kissing the pavement of sunny Birkenhead is the new and ever-so-trendy Fika With Me.

Welcoming me and my eager beaver breakfast buddy with widely swung open doors was a pair of beaming staff peering through a glass cabinet stuffed with muffins and sammies. Promptly attended to we decide to indulge ourselves curbside to be entertained by the torrent of traffic circling the roundabout.

The menu offers you plenty of salivating-worthy options, from the usual suspects; eggs benny, poached eggs and All The Best (essentially their big breakfast, in which the description doesn’t lie when it says ‘everything delicious served on your plate’) to the Coconut French Toast or range of Best Ugly Bagels topped with numerous ensembles of ingredients. They also offer a range of fresh fruit smoothies both free of dairy and not.

Then there’s the coffee. Oh the coffee. To be honest we saw the glistening Supreme coffee sign from across the road and angled traffic like moths to a coffee-burning flame. So, without hesitation we order two. Within moments the cups of coffee land gently, caressing the service of the table, ready and waiting to serve its ultimate purpose in life. To fulfill our caffeine addition, and goddamn help me it did.

Amidst my coffee episode we order one All The Best (because duh, it’s all the best) and a Good V’Agle (the halloumi, vine tomato, rocket, pesto and cream cheese bagel). I kid you not, as quick as a robber's dog both our meals arrive. All delicious and fresh, All The Best is scoffed without complaints. Although the bagel lacked in the squeaky cheese department, even though halloumi was the hero ingredient.

Overall, coupling the scrumptious food, amazing coffee and trendy décor, Fika With Me is a shore thing.
