Overview
Art is the name of the game, the name of the game is art. Olly, a permissive space of coffee, art and donuts, is the new kid around town. An unlikely trio, Alex, Bryan and Chlöe have come together to crack open the bubbling scene of emerging artists in Auckland. They're giving the people what they want. This space, dripping in epic art, acts as a communal spot to enjoy the triumphs of others while indulging yourself in dangerously good donuts— baked by a private baker and edited by the team themselves. Current flavours include a matcha glaze, classic cinnamon sugar and dark chocolate and coconut.
This sweet spot next to Mt Eden's Crystal Palace and The Lab Recording Studio was built from the ground up with their very own hands. From the communal table made of an old door to the murals on the wall, Olly is an organic brainchild of a group of driven, young creatives. Every month you'll see a new artist taking this café gone gallery and the rest of Auckland by storm. The near future also sees the Olly team collaborating with their baker to bring some hot new donut flavors to the table.
Chlöe finds time in her day as a millennial catalyst to keep it all in order, while driven partner and second part to the holy trio, Alex, plays a vital role in the creative flow of this hybrid space. The Allpress coffee is served hot by the experienced, tattooed hands of barista and co-owner, Bryan. The crew have created a unique style, one that I believe a lot of us can relate too. It's the understanding of a café as a place to work, chat and have a damn good donut. Having recently just opened the upstairs as a co-working space, Olly is one step ahead.
The concept is simple and the ethos hard to complicate; good coffee, artisan donuts and kickass art.
