With its panoramic views of Rangitoto Island and the Waitemata Harbour, Takapuna Beach Café and Store offers a treat for all senses. Conveniently located a stone's throw from the beach, this popular café is constantly buzzing, meaning more often than not, there'll be a brief wait for an available table.

As there are both indoor and outdoor seating options, it's suitable for dining all year round, although a casual Sunday brunch at the Café in summer is the ultimate experience.

Menu offerings include Poached chicken, roast vegetables and stracciatella; Oatmeal and pumpkin pancakes with spiced relish and goats' cheese; and Lambs brains, black pudding, broad beans and cider, meaning it's not your average café menu. While the standard brunch items are also on offer, keen foodies will be on cloud nine with the selection range.

Their coffee is made me with love but the gelato smoothies (prepared with homemade gelato) shouldn't be missed (salted caramel is the best), and it would be silly to leave without one of their handmade chocolates or macarons, even if you can't fit it in until you get home.
