Overview

Cycling is a lovely activity by itself, but it would be all the more better with a coffee reward, or several. To help riders achieve caffeine nirvana, West Auckland's EcoMatters Bike Hub has launched a new cycle map that rounds up the region's best cycleways and coffee pitstops.

The Flat White Ride is a 33 kilometre loop which connects the top cycling and coffee destinations between New Lynn, Waterview, Henderson and Glen Eden. Four of the loop's seven stretches are on cycleways or shared paths and cyclists can choose which sections to ride based on their cycling confidence or fitness level.

As well as visiting West Auckland gems, including Henderson Creek and Oratia Stream, the map pinpoints six participating bike friendly cafés, many of which are offering special deals to those who drop by on two wheels. The participating cafés include: The Waterview Coffee Project, The Falls Restaurant and Cafe, Coffee Studio @ Corban Estate Art Centre, The Packing Shed, Bodega Eatery and The Tannery.

The Flat White Ride is available for download via Google Maps. Physical copies of the map are available at the EcoMatters Bike Hub and the six participating cafés.

EcoMatters Bike Hub is a community initiative that provides free advice and teaches basic bike maintenance skills. It also runs the Pedal & Pizza event, a series of social two-hour bike rides that end with wood-fired pizza from the EcoMatters pizza oven.
