UPDATE: MARCH 15, 2020 — Organisers have announced that Sweetstock will no longer go ahead in 2020 "due to the current social impact surrounding the Coronavirus, escalating the effects on international travel for talent and local event participation". Ticket holders will receive a full refund.

If you've got a thing for the sweeter side of life, prepare to be very chuffed with Australia's newest food and music festival. From the minds behind Meatstock, Sweetstock makes its debut in Melbourne on March 28 and 29, 2020, promising to deliver the multi-sensory sugar rush of your wildest candy-filled dreams.

Prepare yourself for a weekend of sweet snacks and even sweeter tunes, thanks to a music lineup headlined by dance group Sneaky Sound System. They'll be joined on the bill by more talent, too, including indie act Jawbreakers, electronic star Alice Ivy and Melbourne's own Approachable Members Of Your Local Community.

Meanwhile, SBS Food's Australian Cake Battle will see some of the country's top bakers go head to head on stage and the Australian Dessert Championship will have everyday dessert masters battling it out — in categories such as cupcakes, cheesecakes, pavlovas, pies and tarts — for a cool $5000 prize. You can also try your luck in the doughnut eating competition, catch a baking demonstration and pick up some new tricks in a coveted masterclass by US cake guru Duff Goldman.

Live art, a sweets expo, circus acts, showbags and pop-up bars are just the icing on an already stacked Sweetstock cake. The full food lineup is set to drop in the upcoming months — we'll let you know when it does.

Sweetstock runs Saturday from 11am–9pm and Sunday 10am–6pm.
