Overview
Built by a prominent 16th-century politician, William Conolly, speaker of the Irish House of Commons, to entertain a revolving door of high-profile guests, Castletown House still makes a magnificent impression.
The Palladian mansion is the headline act amid 235 acres of expansive grounds. Yet the diverse landscape is equally stunning, with meadows, waterways and woodlands adorned with historic structures, like a garden temple, a gothic lodge and a rare corkscrew-shaped barn.
Please note that the house is currently closed to the public, but the parklands are free to explore.
