Overview

The Wild Atlantic Way resonates with majestic coastlines, but few landmarks are as impressive as Dún Briste at Downpatrick Head.

This towering sea stack rises 50 metres above the waves, having separated from the mainland following a massive storm in 1393.

According to legend, when a pagan chief refused to convert to Christianity, Saint Patrick struck the ground, sending the forsaken stack into the ocean.
