Overview
Delve into Irish antiquity at Rathcroghan, the ancient capital of Connacht, one of Ireland's four provinces. More than 240 archaeological sites span six square kilometres, including burial mounds and ringforts dating from the Neolithic to the Middle Ages.
Said to be the birthplace of Samhain, the festival that eventually became Hallowe'en, the entire landscape is teeming with archaeological sites across 5500 years of human history.
Stop in at the visitor centre in the Tulsk village for more in-depth information or join the guided tour that journies below the earth to the Cave of Oweynagat (the Cave of Cats).
