Overview
What began as a supper club for friends has become one of the hottest restaurants in Soho. An all-women team runs the Darjeeling Express kitchen, dishing out a mix of Calcutta-inspired street food and royal recipes, reflecting owner and chef Asma Khan's ancestry and upbringing.
Combining home-cooked comfort with world-renowned excellence, all meals are served in the style of daawat (feast) on platters. The a la carte lunch menu features such dishes as momo dumplings, chilli cheese toasties or aloo kaju toasties (with potato, mustard seeds, cashews, curry leaves and chilli) and Indo-Chinese tangra prawns. For the dinner set menu, pick your first katori (bowl or course) and second katori — curry mains, with everything from Bengali-style goat to vegan options like nutty badami baingan — with all sides and desserts included.
Intriguing original cocktails, unusual spirits and house-made alcohol-free beverages accompany the beer and wine menu. Plus the biryani supper club features Calcutta-style dum biryani, handed down by generations of family cooks.
