Friendly, customised service, consistent food, great coffee, and a relaxed and laidback energy make this an easy choice for quick catch-ups or leisurely lunches. 

Found on the corner of Cedar Street and Glen Huntly Road in Caulfield South, Cedar Street Cafe epitomises the ideal suburban cafe. Nothing too fancy or complicated. A barista who knows each local's coffee order. Butcher's paper and crayons that are placed on the tables (without having to ask) to keep the kids entertained. And a reassuring buzz of familiarity and friendliness that makes you want to come back every morning. 

The team already knows a thing or two about neighbourhood cafes, having run Mr. Brightside Cafe nearby for many years now. The down-to-earth, relaxed joint is like a second kitchen to many locals who treat the spot like a home away from home. Excellent coffee, reliable breakfast food, and most notably, a warm welcome each and every time from its almost-always present owners. 

Like Mr. Brightside, Cedar Street Cafe attracts a casual crowd of early-morning, lycra-clad cyclists, babycino-seeking kids on their way to school, elderly folk content to sit and read the newspaper for hours, mothers' group catch-ups, and large family gatherings post-kids' weekend sports games. The one sure thing is that everyone is welcome. 

Many locals have the creamy porridge in their weekly rotation, as well as the breakfast roll with bacon, avocado, spinach, and cheese. The Cedar Plate pairs roasted field mushrooms with beetroot, broccolini, halloumi, crispy kale, and a poached egg, and the tiramisu French toast offers a caffeinated version of the nostalgic breakfast favourite. 

So bring your mates or your mum, your kids, and your pup to Cedar Street Cafe for easygoing good times, and if this happens to be your local, be grateful for it.
