Overview

Much-loved Mornington cafe, Dreamer, has expanded to a second location, bringing its warm, community-centric feel to another lucky Peninsula suburb. In the heart of Balnarring Village, brimming with locals and holiday-makers, Dreamer adds a new hospitality offering with quality coffee and crowd-pleaser brekkie dishes.

Ben Rosenberg and Melissa Alizzi-Rosenberg opened Dreamer in Mornington after relocating to the Peninsula in 2022. It's become a popular spot for locals and visitors who embrace the neighbourhood feel and appreciate the premium food on offer.

"The food has always been one of the most important parts of Dreamer. We're particular about flavour, and nothing makes it onto the menu unless it genuinely delivers. We want people to come in for a coffee and leave talking about what they ate," says co-founder Ben Rosenberg.

The new outpost builds on everything that regulars love about the first location, including several of its favourite menu items. The Turkish eggs with pomegranate labneh, crispy chilli oil and dukkah, as well as the always-popular tartines — such as the avocado with lemon ricotta and the salmon with crème fraîche and capers — have been transported to Balnarring. The crisp toasties, sandwiches between Penny for Pound crusty sourdough, can thankfully be found at the new site too.

The new location introduces the Balnarring Plate, with soft-boiled eggs, lemon ricotta, avocado, pickled onions, tomatoes and pickles. Seasonal specials will also grace the menu, with many gluten-free and vegan options creating an inclusive atmosphere.

"What we love most about Balnarring is its strong sense of community and village feel," says co-founder Melisa Alizzi-Rosenberg. "One of the nicest things about Dreamer has been watching the connections that happen here every day. We've seen friendships form between locals who first met in the cafe. We love that people can come in for a quiet moment to themselves, meet a friend for breakfast, or simply feel part of the community. That's always been what Dreamer is about, and what we hope to create in Balnarring too."
