This winter, much-loved Sicilian restaurant Mister Bianco will host a three-course meal every Tuesday night for just $50. The hero of the feast? The humble roast chicken.
The Kew restaurant has been serving locals and visitors alike for 15 years. Known for combining Sicilian-style cuisine with classic Italian hospitality, the winter dinner series, Book Your Chook, sees chef-restaurateur Joe Vargetto do just that.
Vargetto kicks things off with classic Italian meatballs bathed in a tomato sugo, eggplant-stuffed arancini alla Norma, and sfincione — a Sicilian-style focaccia topped with tomatoes and mozzarella. For mains, diners will be treated to a half-chicken, cooked over red gum coals and served Sicilian-style, doused in herby salmoriglio sauce and served with a rocket and pear salad. Diners can also enjoy a little extra winter goodness and add a shaving of local Buxton truffles for an additional $10.
To drink, choose from a selection of local and European wines, and a cocktail list stacked with modern Italian tipples, like negroni sbagliatos and limoncello spritzes. With limited seating, head to the venue's website to book a spot.
