Overview

Now with the release of his eighth studio album, IF, on the horizon, Northern Irish singer-songwriter Foy Vance returns to Australia for the first time since 2023. Renowned for his soulful, folk- and Americana-influenced tunes, this leg of Vance's latest world tour will also feature beloved Melbourne-born five-piece, The Paper Kites, who last performed a home-soil run of shows in 2024.

Vance's next journey to our shores arrives at a special moment in his extensive career. Following his father's sudden death in 1999, Vance embarked on a seven-album cycle inspired by that profound loss and the musical path his father set him on, with 2026's The Wake serving as its final chapter. After 27 years, Vance is turning the page, creating a new three-part album project: IF: WE, IF: YOU and IF: I.

If you're keen to catch this next chapter, the tour kicks off at The Tivoli in Brisbane on Saturday, January 30, 2027. Then, the tour heads to the Forum in Melbourne on Tuesday, February 2, before rounding out with a special set at Perth Festival on Sunday, February 7. With Foy Vance and The Paper Kites sharing the stage across each date, expect an evening of unmatched musicianship that delves deep into both artists' catalogues.

For those discovering Foy Vance for the first time, his name often comes up alongside Ed Sheeran, with the pair first meeting in 2007. Having co-written some of each other's best-known songs — including Sheeran's 'Galway Girl' and Vance's 'Guiding Light' — Vance is now exploring his deep collection of previously unreleased material, uncovering fresh perspectives on love, grief, longing and forgiveness.
