Open Weekend 2020 — CANCELLED
The Yarra Valley's TarraWarra Museum opens for a weekend of free workshops, art and picnics on the lawn.
Overview
UPDATE: MARCH 16, 2020 — Due to concerns surrounding COVID-19, this event has been cancelled.
Most people head to Healesville to get a taste of the Yarra Valley's famous wine, but those in the know always make sure to include a stop at the TarraWarra Museum of Art for an arts and culture fix. And throughout the gallery's Open Weekend 2020 showcase on Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22, you'll get to experience all of it and more for free.
Welcoming newcomers and locals alike onto its lush grounds, the out-of-town museum will play host to a major installation by Melbourne artist Minna Gilligan. Six Flags has been created specifically for Open Weekend 2020 and comes with a free zine that you can collect on site. Each flag represents a women in a quiet, self-reflective moment.
You'll also get free access to the TarraWarra's latest exhibition Making Her Mark: Selected Works from the Collection and tours with the exhibition's curator Victoria Lynn.
Other activities and entertainment include a free printmaking tote bag workshop hosted by artist Bronwyn Ward, music from blues duo Suneden and singer songwriter Carissa Nyalu and landscape sketching workshops.
Plus, there'll be a selection of food trucks and drinks to enjoy if you forget to pack a picnic basket.
Open Weekend runs from 11am–5pm daily.
