Overview
UPDATE: MARCH 16, 2020 — Due to concerns surrounding COVID-19, this event has been postponed. Wall to Wall hopes to schedule a new date in the future.
Melbourne's street art scene is about to be outdone. Over three days this April, the township of Benalla in northeast Victoria will be hosting one of Australia's largest street art festivals.
The annual Wall to Wall Festival, now in its sixth year, will bring together a lineup of local and international artists to create dozens of new murals around the town. You'll be able to watch the famed artists at work, including Melbourne-based artist Gonketa, who is known for using bold colours and exaggerated expressions, and a special project inspired by climate change action from illustrative freehand artist Kaff-eine.
A new addition to the program is the first solo exhibition from internationally renowned Brisbane street artist Sofles. Sofles: Compendium will open at Benalla Art Gallery on Friday, March 6, and run until Sunday, April 12.
Along with the live painting, there'll be an exciting program of workshops, guided street art tours, immersive VR experiences, cinema and music events. You'll also be able to unleash your inner Banksy by participating in the Paint by Numbers community mural, which entails the creation of a permanent, large-scale town mural with the help of one of the festival's artists.
