Gemini Wine Bar Is Celebrating the Astrological Sign That Shares Its Name with Zodiac-Inspired Food and Wine Collaborations

Born between May 21 and June 21? Then you're a Gemini — aka a social butterfly who loves people and good conversation, at least according to the usual astrological traits. That description feels pretty appropriate for Coburg's Gemini Wine Bar, a welcoming neighbourhood hub where thoughtfully curated wine, snacks and coffee keep locals and newcomers returning again and again. Founded by Tresna Lee and Shane Farrell, you won't be surprised to learn they named the venue after their shared star sign.
For the second year running, the duo is hosting Gemini Season from Wednesday, May 21–Saturday, June 21: a series of dinners, tastings, collaborations and parties that lean a little into the mystic. And if you happen to be a different star sign, you're welcome to get involved all the same. "Gemini has always felt like the platform for us to explore our creative ideas for building community. The season is a great excuse to lean into our big concepts while celebrating our own birthdays," says Lee.
So, what can you expect from this month-long shindig? On Wednesday, May 22, local artist and maker Nic McGuffog will present the astrologically-inspired Weave and Wine event, where you'll pair your creative skills with top-notch wine and snacks. Then, the main event — the Gemini Party — takes place on Friday, May 30, with every ticket including a cocktail on arrival, cheap drinks, boundless snacks and tarot card readings, with plenty more surprises to be revealed closer to the date.
On Monday, June 2, it's time to get self-reflective, as Tarot Reading Night sees local mystic Aud Pitch take guests on a two-hour journey combining conversation, drinks and snacks. Looking ahead, Liam O'Brien from Athletes of Wine gets down to host a free wine tasting on Saturday, June 14, before Sabi Wabi drops in for another free wine tasting on Wednesday, June 18. Then, the next night, Mitchum's Dutch Rules Distillery presents an intimate dinner for ten guests, pairing the chef's selection with cocktails.
Also running throughout Gemini Season are several promotions set to inspire your visit. For instance, Maidenii and Gelato Papa will collaborate to launch the Gemini Amaro Choc Top on Friday, May 30, while the venue's happy hour extends to include bougie additions like champagne, truffles and oysters from 5–6pm every Wednesday–Saturday.
Then, Shaun Byrne from Maidenii returns to launch the Gemini Flawless Martini, and a $55 set menu transforms Sunday lunch. Finally, if you're a Gemini looking to celebrate your birthday, order a chef's selection with four or more friends to receive a free bottle of Gemini Pinot to take home. "Geminis are typically great communicators and socialites, so this is the season to gather and celebrate with our community. We love conjuring new ideas for events, and it's the perfect time to experiment as we celebrate our birthday season," says Lee.
