The lobby bar at Crown Towers, The Waiting Room, is known and loved for its glamorous high teas and refreshing cocktails. And this winter, the venue is hopping on the seemingly never-ending matcha craze, introducing The Green Edit High Tea.

Available from July 4, for a limited time only, The Green Edit High Tea presents a contemporary take on the classic high tea, leaning right into the flavour of the moment: matcha. Each element is carefully considered to balance the natural bitterness, with matcha showcased across both savoury and sweet dishes and cocktails.

Of course, it wouldn't be a high tea without scones, and while plain scones are included, so is a matcha version served with raspberry jam and creme chantilly. Savoury bites include a jewelled garden tart encased in a matcha sablé shell, a lobster brioche with botanical matcha cream, a midori wagyu slider on a matcha milk bun, and a mushroom quiche dusted with ceremonial matcha.

Sweets span a matcha yuzu opera cake with matcha whipped ganache, a spinning-wheel lollipop with caramelised matcha chocolate, a matcha crumble with Fuji apple compote, and a strawberry matcha macaron.

While matcha lattes and frappés are available, we suspect it'll be the matcha-inspired cocktails that will be the most popular. The Shin-Ryoku creation blends matcha, yuzu citrus shochu, gin, and sake, while the White Chocolate Matcha is a decadent drink that combines white chocolate liquor, Malibu, and matcha.
