Luke's Bánh Mì Lonsdale Street
To celebrate the launch of its sixth store, the Lonsdale Street location will be serving Australia's first coloured bánh mì baguettes
Overview
A beloved bánh mì bakery is expanding to its sixth store, continuing its growth as one of the fastest-growing Vietnamese bakeries in Australia. Luke's Bánh Mì will open on Lonsdale Street in the CBD, delighting office workers and city visitors alike.
Founded by third-generation baker Luke Vu, Luke's Bánh Mì showcases treasured family recipes, adhering to strict traditional techniques. Everything is proudly made in-house, from the crunchy baguettes to the signature Vietnamese mayonnaise, the decadent pâté to house-marinated meats and specialty sauces.

The latest CBD location marks a significant chapter in the brand's growth, which has gradually expanded into a widely renowned purveyor of traditional bánh mì. An ambitious entrepreneur, Luke has big dreams of opening 30 stores by 2027. A remarkable 800 bánh mì were sold on the first day at the brand's most recent store opening in Port Melbourne in January 2026.
To celebrate the launch of its sixth store, the Lonsdale Street location will be serving Australia's first coloured bánh mì baguettes, naturally coloured with excess fruits and vegetables, including beetroot, kale and carrots. The program honours traditional Vietnamese bakery techniques, and also helps local farmers utilise otherwise unsold products that don't meet strict appearance standards.

"We're proud to be working with Aussie farmers to create our colourful baguettes that not only look and taste great, but help tackle the issue of food waste. Our special launch day offering is our way of saying thanks to the Melbourne community who have supported us since we first opened, and to showcase our relentless commitment to growth and innovation. Whether it's new product development or finding better ways to reduce waste, every store opening is an opportunity to set a new benchmark," says Luke.
The team are expecting large crowds on opening day, Thursday, June 18, where they will be offering 50 per cent off bánh mì. And to celebrate the 19-21 Londsdale Street address, customers aged 19, 20 and 21, will receive a free bánh mì of their choosing upon showing proof of age.
