Overview
Green smoothies are as much an accessory these days as they are a health food. Guilty. But that doesn't mean they're not good for you, so we're not here to judge — we're just here to help you find more green smoothies and even more Instagram-worthy situations. (And if we're being honest, we've Instagrammed our fair share of green drinks in the past few months. We're all in this together.) So what could be better than a smoothie bar that believes in all things green? You can thank us later.
Plus Five Smoothie is all about the health factor. Their smoothies don't contain any sweeteners apart from the holy date, and are packed with your daily dose of vegetables and fruits. These particular fruits and veggies are delivered daily from local farms, and their cups are BPA-free and biodegradable. If that's not enough, each smoothie has been designed with particular health benefits in mind — meaning that Five Plus have got your back, whatever you ailment. Director Vivian Lam wrote the recipes in conjunction with nutritionist Samantha Ward. Seriously, these guys are all over it. So we think they're allowed to charge $7.50 for a regular smoothie and $9 for a large.
For those serious about their green smoothies go for the New Leaf — spinach, coconut water, cucumber, celery, parsley, mint, ginger and lemon — it will help you detox the old liver and keep the immune system firing. For something a little easier for a green smoothie newbie, try the Green Light: spinach, coconut water, celery, banana, pear, and lemon. It's alkalising, filled with veggies, and a little sweet from the fruit.
But let's be honest: there are times when you'd rather your drink tasted more like creamy, chocolaty goodness than celery. For those moments, the Peanut Butter Cup is your best friend. Packed with oats, almond milk, banana, homemade peanut butter and dates, not only does it taste like heaven, it promotes muscle development too. And if you're more of a chocolate kind of person, the Choc Mint is dessert for breakfast, with spinach, almond milk, avocado, dark chocolate, mint and dates. Seriously, it's just so creamy.
At Five Plus they've got the green and the chocolate, and everything in between.
