Burger nerds of the inner west have a new eatery to add to their list of local faves, because Seddon's newest nosh spot is dedicated to all things stuffed in buns: Slider Diner.
Sister to the Sliders on Tyres food truck, the diner is a vision of pastel pinks and baby blues, as if referencing some cheery 1950s-style American diner. Out back, the Saturday Night Fever mural splashed across the courtyard signals this one's primed to be a hangout all year-round.
Owner Owen Scungio has an Italian background, and his love for simplicity lets top-quality ingredients do their thing. Mini burgers reign supreme on the menu, from the good ol' cheeseburger combo of freshly ground chuck meat, cold-smoked American cheese and burger sauce ($7 slider) to the Kim Cheezy slider, starring buttermilk fried chook, kimchi slaw and a gochujang sauce (both $7 per slider). Bigger burgers include the the slow-cooked lamb burger — stuffed with house-made pickles and taramasalata — and tempura rockling with lemon dill (both $15).
Meanwhile, the non-burger offering brings plenty of its own creativity, with gems like truffled mac 'n cheese spiked with pecorino ($12), pulled pork doughnuts oozing house-made barbecue sauce (three for $8) and a daily-changing sweet pie served with chantilly cream and ice cream ($10).
