Overview

For those who enjoy listening to mellow folk tunes while huddled up on beanbags and enjoying hot chocolate from a flask, you may like to head over to The Moorings on Saturday April 26 where Emily Fairlight and Callum Gentleman will be performing.

The two Kiwi musicians come from two distinct styles of folk. Callum Gentleman performs the sub-genre of music known as folk noir. His music is best described as  "Nick Cave meets The Smiths in a dark alley where they conspire to kidnap Bob Dylan & move to New Zealand." Emily Fairlight counts Leonard Cohen, Janis Joplin, Oh Land and Gillian Welch among her musical influences. Her music is best described as "wonderlandesque folk".

The night will be held at the Moorings, an old wooden-floored ballroom decorated with peeling wallpaper and a dusty collection of sea-inspired artwork.

Bring your own cushions and refreshments.
