Mogwai
Melodic textures, mind-bending white noise and hard-hitting riffs.
Overview
Scottish post-rock act Mogwai are known for their dynamic soundscapes and excessive volume. At their 1999 concert in Auckland they were recorded at a sound level of 132 decibels, somewhere in between the level of a jet engine and a gun shot.
With eight albums worth of melodic textures, mind-bending white noise and hard-hitting riffs, the five-piece has developed a cult following. The band’s latest album Rave Tapes was released in January 2014, as created in their Castle Of Doom studio in Glasgow.
They will play both Auckland and Wellington on their trip to New Zealand. Bring earplugs.
