Overview

The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra is marking Shakespeare 450th birthday (that is, not really marking his birthday but just 450 years since he was born) with a set of musical works inspired by the playwriting genius from Stratford-upon-Avon.

Musical works of the night are film composer Korngold's Much Ado About Nothing Suite, Mendelssohn's incidental music from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Walton's Henry V Suite and modernist R.Strauss' Macbeth.
