Eighteen Willis Street Is Wellington's New Dining and Shopping Precinct
The new inner city destination includes some of the capital's favourite lunchtime eateries.
Willis Street is quickly becoming Wellington's home of urban food courts. In 2018, the Te Aro strip welcomed laneway-style dining experience Press Hall to the fold. This time around it's a new dining and shopping precinct simply named 18 Willis Street.
The opening is for inner city dwellers who would like to fit in some sit-ups, sit down meetings and long lunch breaks. As part of the large-scale redevelopment of what used to be known as the Grand Arcade precinct, 18 Willis Street is the first of three interconnecting towers to undergo a transformation.
The major facelift has turned the first and second floors into a new dining and retail precinct. On offer are some of the capital's favourite lunchtime eateries in a glass annexe providing a light-filled space and views to dine or relax the hours away. Architecture by design group Stapleton Elliott has created the open and comfortable space, while the branding created by Akin includes street art from local artists.

New concepts include King Sushi and Saffron Kebab & Curry. Completing the package is an assortment of services including a City Fitness gym, Tiny Voices childcare centre, Laser Clinics and Wildflower Florists.
The eateries at 18 Willis Street are open 10am–4pm, Monday to Friday and 10am–2pm, Saturday. The retail stores are open 9am–5.30pm, Monday to Friday and 9am–5pm, Saturday. For more information, visit 18willisst.co.nz.
