Cadbury is Making Vegemite Chocolate But No You Can't Have Any
Australians being the eternal hogs that they are have made no plans to share the weirdness.
Soon, friends, Vegemite chocolate is going to exist on supermarket shelves. An image of the new combo was leaked about a month ago and we thought it was a hoax, but it wasn't. Yesterday, the company took to Twitter to announce their 'exciting' new range of interesting chocolate flavours (other flavours included are salted caramel; pretzel and peanut; and golden toffee).
In an interview with Good Food, Cadbury Australia describes the chocolate as being "filled with caramel with a hint of Vegemite taste, similar to salted caramel, rather than filled entirely with the salty, yeasty spread." The bar also has a centre filled with "smooth flowing caramel", the spokesman said. Okay, so it's a little weird but we're a little curious and yay for Cadbury for being innovative and letting us live more exciting lives as of June 1 (when it launches).
So we're excited, everyone's excited and happy to gorge on a new type of chocolates because it's winter and we're cold and lonely and new and exciting chocolate seems like a plausible answer to those issues. We were even ready to forgive Cadbury for cutting down our chocolate portion size a while back. But then Cadbury drops this bombshell: it's only available in Australia.
Yup, Australians being the eternal hogs that they are have made no plans to share the weirdness. Instead of shipping over a few chocolate delights on an easy three hour flight, the company felt that it was better to keep things within national borders, sending their goods to goddamn Perth (just over four hours flight away from their head office in Melbourne) rather than to New Zealand. Classic Kobe Bryant move right there.
Don't mind us, Cadbury. We'll just be over here on the island NOT trying your stupid chocolate.
As you were New Zealand.
