And just like that, it's back. Every four years the Rugby World Cup get's everyone out — young and old, die-hard fans and those jumping on the bandwagon — to cheer on the All Blacks in their best black gear and matching face paint. Of course, there's always that last minute scramble to find a great spot playing the game with the perfect vibe that may entice you to stay all night long. To avoid the arguments and pre-game Google searching, we've put together a list of top spots in the inner suburbs to catch the games.

ANDY'S BURGERS & BAR, AUCKLAND CBD

Every since Andy's took over the coveted spot in SkyCity, it's become synonymous with sports. A range of screens throughout the restaurant, including a large one up front, are constantly on, showcasing a variety of sports. The 2019 Rugby World Cup will be no different, with all New Zealand games playing throughout the tournament. With delicious bites such as wings, burgers and more, Andy's offers more than drinks for game day.

DOOLAN BROTHERS, VARIOUS LOCATIONS

Doolan Brothers is known for its live music and just all-around good vibes. With three locations, it's a great way to avoid the mad rush to the city and grab a table at your local instead. The menu features elevated pub food that still provide the comfort to get you through those nail-biting matches. Always bringing together a great crowd for sporting events, the Rugby World Cup will be no exception.

THE FOX SPORTING BAR & RESTAURANT, VIADUCT HARBOUR

Auckland's most recognisable sports bar, The Fox can be found overlooking the water on the Viaduct. However, most diners usually have their eyes fixated on the huge indoor screens which are always showing a variety of sporting events. No matter the time, The Fox is known for playing all the major international sporting tournaments so, of course, it'll be a key spot for the 2019 Rugby World Cup. With fresh seafood on the menu, even those who aren't quite into the game will be happy.

THE BRIT, BRITOMART

Recently taking over Britomart's Northern Steamship, The Brit has been designed around sociability with a central bar and a variety of different sized spaces for different groups. This new Britomart gastropub comes complete with six big screens and a projector, just in time for the Rugby World Cup. Grab your friends and enjoy the menu, created by Gareth Stewart of My Kitchen Rules NZ, with wagyu beef burgers, stone-baked pizzas and green bowls.

16TUN, WYNYARD QUARTER

16 Tun has brought back craftsmanship with its freehouse principles, allowing the bar to serve a curated selection of craft beers from across the country. An intimate spot in Wynyard Quarter, its large screen is easily visible from anywhere in the bar, making it a great way to enjoy the Rugby World Cup with a decent drink. Order one of the popular tasting crates to really try a variety of brews from the menu.

Located in Smales Farm, this eatery was founded on friendship and quickly become loved for its wide range of drinks and seasonal sharing menu. Boasting the largest outdoor screen on the North Shore, it will be put to good use with every New Zealand game played live. Why bother with the bridge? No matter the occasion, Auckland's Viaduct always manages to turn it up. One of its newest bars, Headquarters, is the absolute epitome of this. Great music, great food and always a great time, HQ has certainly raised the bar for the Rugby World Cup. With three super-sized screens set up, every game will be played on at least one and all three going for the All Blacks. To top it off, outside features a giant florescent rugby ball thanks to Heineken.

MORELL BISTRO, REMUERA

For those who are looking for a less rowdy location to enjoy the game with world-class food, Morell Bistro is the perfect choice. Relatively new to Remuera, Morell has been wowing locals with its fresh seafood and produce. To celebrate the 2019 Rugby World Cup, Morell has installed a huge TV screen in its bar for guests to enjoy while sipping on a cocktail or two. Make sure to try the crayfish ravioli — a highlight of the menu.
