This Courtenay Place Hole-in-the-Wall Specialises in Steaming Noodle Soup
Perfect for a cheeky bowl of phở after dark.
From the family that brought you Mr Circle comes Dear Noodle, a fantastic little hole-in-the-wall that promises to satisfy your late-night noodle cravings.
A love letter to fans of Asian food across Wellington, Dear Noodle is an exciting project from the capital's purveyor of jian bing (Chinese crepes), having boldly opened its doors soon after the lockdown in 2020. With its handy Courtenay Place location, straightforward concept and diversity of meal options, it's a convenient and versatile spot for a quick dinner.
As the name would suggest, noodles are the star attraction here, and there's plenty of it. The ordering process is simple — you choose your soup base and the meat to accompany it, along with any extra toppings you desire, then collect your bowl when your number's up. You're spoilt for choice when it comes to your selection of soup, with phở, pickled soup noodle, hot spicy soup noodle, curry soup noodle and tomato soup noodle on the menu.

An eclectic range of toppings is available to make your dish truly your own. Try some of the more daring items, such as beef tripe or duck blood. For the more conservative, crispy pork and fried shrimp sound a tad more appealing. Sides and snacks such as meat skewers and fried potato and kumara will ensure you leave full and content, while the crepes are a great way to finish with something sweet.
Located right next to the Mr Circle shop, at 9A Courtenay Place, Dear Noodle is easy to find — and with its doors open until at least 10pm every night, now it's never too late for an impromptu bowl of phở.
Find Dear Noodle at 9A Courtenay Place, Te Aro. It's open from 11am–10pm weekdays and 11am–11pm on weekends.
