We're fairly certain that ordering multiple fish tacos at 11pm after a night on the cervezas will stop that impending hangover right in its tracks. That fact that those tacos are among the best in Perth is just an added bonus. La Cholita, a long-time William Street favourite, provides the goods till midnight every night of the week like a well-tequilaed machine.

Since it's owned and operated by Clint Nolan and the Lavish Habits crew, that should come as no surprise. The group encompasses some of Perth's most celebrated venues, including prohibition-style rum bar Sneaky Tony's, honky-tonk country bar Alabama Song and dive bar Joe's Juice Joint. La Cholita is just another notch on its ever-expanding belt.

But there's more than just same-same beers and tacos on offer here, though the guacamole and house-made corn chips are a must. The menu is lively and colourful — much like the graffiti-covered walls — think fresh watermelon salad, spicy jalapeño quesadillas and grilled octopus with smoky potato. With more than 100 tequilas, plus mezcal, sangria and Spanish wine to work your way through, things will likely get a little loco — but that's long been modus operandi at this Mexican bar. Grab your amigos and get ready to party.
