Overview
Set at the southwestern tip of Crete, Elafonissi Beach's beautiful scenery is only elevated by its unique pink sand. Here, the colourful shells of foraminifera — a microscopic single-cell organism — blend with the soft sand to create a subtle rosey hue stretching along the shoreline.
Although this beach gets busy during peak season, you can gain more privacy on the nearby Elafonisi Island. Follow the sandbar across the warm, shallow lagoon to briefly leave behind the mainland.
Arrive early for the most tranquil experience.
