Overview

Poetry at Meow is a once-a-month poetry night usually held every third Sunday at Meow. On Sunday September 21 Meow will be hosting Apirana Taylor - an internationally-published realist poet, children short story writer, playwright, actor, painter and musician.

Apirana's first published collection of poems in 1972, Eyes of the Ruru, were a collection of raw and angry post-colonial poems, establishing him as an important New Zealand poet. His short stories are known for their 'working-class perspective, their vivid but understated naturalistic detail, and their straightforward moralism'.
