Overview

From the imagination of Peter Jackson's shaggy brain, Weta Digital and Weta Workshop sprung just 20 years ago this October. Since its inception, Weta and Weta have created cinematic wonderlands such as that of King Kong, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Planet of the Apes and Avatar - all constructed on our Miramar backyard.

And since every birthday includes some sort of celebration, the kindly folk at Weta and Weta have decided to regale some behind-the-scenes stories in a series of presentations at Te Papa, for free.

Head over to Te Papa on Saturday 11 October to hear Jamie Beard, Areito Echevarria & Guy Williams from Weta Digital talk about filmmaking in the digital age, and then stay around until 3pm when Gino Acevedo, Jason Docherty, and Luke Hawker will talk about 'practical creatures'.
