Nearly half a million visitors now make their way to Coromandel Peninsula for the Christmas-New Year period. It only makes sense then that a slew of new music festivals are popping up to provide some entertainment.

Following the announcement of boutique summer music event, Farm Dance, which is scheduled for January 5, another festival has been booked for Joes Farm. Information is scarce on the new Whangamatā venue — its exact location set to be revealed in October — but promoters are stating that it is ten minutes away from the Whangamatā CBD.

The first ever Joes Farm event will see Kiwi summer festival favourites Shapeshifter welcome in the new year. The five-strong lineup of PDigsss, Sam Trevethick, Dan McGruer, Nick Robinson and Darren Mathiassen will take the stage with their stadium-sized drum and bass sound alongside fellow local acts Sachi, JessB, The Upbeats, Tiki Taane and Sunshine Sound System.

Joes Farm will provide a new location providing overnight camping on site. There is no pedestrian access to the venue, but all ticket holders will receive access to a free shuttle bus service from the Whangamatā CBD.
