In addition to new elements like a super-top arena, craft beer gardens and a production orchestrated around the sunrise, this year’s reinvented Rhythm and Vines festival will introduce a lineup of stand up comedians.

Aptly titled Giggle & Vines, the new concept will see some of the country’s fastest rising comedic talent take centre stage in the Old Mout Cider shack. Kicking off each day from 4pm, the concept will be a fitting option for concert-goers looking to make the most of this year's earlier starting times, as well as take in some positive vibes before Waiohika Estate kicks into full swing with acts like: RL Grime, Peking Duk, Scribe and Dobbo.

Acts announced for Giggle & Vines include Wellington-based comedian Cori Gonzalez-Macuer, who is best known for his role in local vampire-spoof What We Do in the Shadows. The past Billy T. Award winner has spent 10 years fine tuning his act, characterised by deadpan and sarcastic humour.

Also making the trip to Gisborne will be two-time Fred Award nominee and star of 7 Days Jamie Bowen, National 2015 Raw Comedy Winner Melanie Bracewell, 2015 Billy T. James nominee Matt Stellingwerf, Hamilton funny man Paul Douglas and Shortland Street-extra-turned-comedian Will Wood.
